Love to Learn is run by a highly experienced paediatric Speech Pathologist, Marita Fraser. The combination of Little Learners Love Literacy A successful program depends on careful planning at the outset. You must be prepared to research local laws governing both small businesses and preschool education specifically. There must be planning in terms of acquiring an adequate space, obtaining insurance, developing a curriculum, hiring additional staff, advertising and registering children. The proper care and teaching of children requires no detail be overlooked. Step 1. Contact the local governing body of child care for information regarding opening a preschool. There should be an agency governing the regulations regarding private preschools. Ask to meet with an administrator to discuss your small business endeavor, especially how to become a licensed preschool program provider. Also, request written literature regarding child care regulations in your area. Step 2. Contact your local government regarding a license to start a small business. Many states require you to register and pay a fee to obtain licensees. Officials should also be able to provide you with information regarding the laws and regulations regarding operating a local business. Step 3. Write out your business plan. Include how you how to fund your endeavor. Visit the website of the Small Business Association for information and materials that will help you create a plan of how to become an entrepreneur in your field. Step 4. Find a property to use as your facility. This might be a section of your own residence. Contact the zoning department of your local government to ensure the area you are interested in is an acceptable one in which to start your business. Hello, i just started to think about homeschooling my son who is 3 1/2. I ordered the Mother Goose Time for his first preschool lessons. My question is, how do you.Step 5. Apply for a business license as required by your state. Also, find out if there are other special requirements required by your local government that you must meet to be fully licensed as a preschool. Step 6. Consult insurance agencies regarding coverage for your facility. Compare rates and choose a plan that fits the nature of your program and will fully insure your business, clients and yourself. Step 7. Research the level of education required by your community necessary to provide a preschool education to young children. Ensure that you, as well as any teaching staff you hire, have this level of education. Step 8. Prepare your location for safety inspections. Your facility must be in good repair and you must have an emergency evacuation plan in place for incidents such as fires or extreme weather occurrences. Step 9. Prepare a curriculum for your program. You can choose an established program from a particular publisher or pick and choose various materials from several. Also, you have the option of creating your own curriculum in many locales. The Early Childhood Learning and Knowledge Center recommends selecting a curriculum that features well- crafted lessons, includes differentiated goals, involves the family in the learning process and is comprehensive for pre- kindergartners. Step 1. 0Determine how many children you will be able to teach per session. Start with a small number to acclimate yourself to this business. Check local laws regarding teacher- to- child ratios. Step 1. 1Hire one or more teachers and assistants as needed. Run criminal background checks and require potential employees to be drug tested and fingerprinted. Verify educational background as well. Also, according to the College Board, preschool teachers need to possess at least an associate's degree, most likely in Early Childhood Education. Step 1. 2Decide whether to apply for accreditation. The percentage of accredited preschools is very low, but gaining accreditation shows you are committed to providing a stellar program. There are some strenuous requirements in terms of health and safety standards. Gain detailed information from the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Step 1. 3Advertise your school. Prepare literature regarding your program, including the nature of curriculum, your background and that of other staff members, your location, session starting dates, hours and contact information. Step 1. 4Take applications from interested parents. Choose your students based on the information you receive. Require a deposit from each family and have the parents sign a contract regarding your services. Warning. Do not rush to open your preschool, as there is much to learn about preparing and operating as well as numerous details to attend to. It is necessary to fully address each step in the process before opening for business. About the Author. Lisa Mooney has been a professional writer for more than 1. Most financial experts agree that a Debt Management Plan (DMP) is the preferred method of debt consolidation. The most- recommended DMPs are run by non- profit organizations. They start with a credit counseling session to help determine how much money you can afford to pay creditors each month. The non- profit agency can help you get a lower interest rate from creditors and reduce or waive late fees to help make your monthly payment affordable. You send one payment to the agency running the DMP and they split it among all your creditors. Wondering how debt consolidation works? Debt consolidation combines your bills into one smaller monthly payment. We make it easier to get out of debt.Utilizing a debt management plan could affect your credit score. However, at the end of the 3- to- 5 year process, you should be debt free, which definitely improves your score. Learn More About Management Plans. A Debt Consolidation Loan (DCL) allows you to make one payment to one lender in place of multiple payments to multiple creditors. A debt consolidation loan should have a fixed interest rate that is lower than what you were paying, which reduce your monthly payments and make it easier to repay the debts. There are several types of DCLs, including home equity loans, zero- interest balance transfers on credit cards, personal loans, and consolidating student loans. It is a popular way to bundle a variety of bills into one payment that makes it easier to track your finances. There are some drawbacks . With bill consolidation, you make only one monthly payment . Any savings could be used to start an emergency fund to help prevent a future financial crisis. How to Get a Consolidation Loan. Banks and credit unions are good places to ask about consolidation loans, but online lending sites may be a better place to borrow. The key is to know how to consolidate your bills. Start by listing each of the debts you intend to consolidate . It also helps to know your credit score. Once you have this information, make sure to compare lender. A consolidation loan should reduce your interest rate, lower your monthly payment, and give you a practical way to eliminate debt. How to Consolidate Credit Card Debt on Your Own. When the introductory rate ends, interest rates jump to 1. Be aware, however, that balance transfer cards often charge a transfer fee (usually 3%), and some even have annual fees. Another DIY way to consolidate your credit card debt would be to stop using all your cards and pay using cash instead. This can allow you to set aside a portion of your income each month to pay down balances for each card, one at a time. When you have paid off all the cards, choose one and be responsible with how you use it. How Can I Consolidate My Bills? Debt and bill consolidation takes patience, persistence and some organizational skills. You must start by gathering all your bills for things like medical, credit card, utilities, cell phones. Add the total amount owed on the unsecured debt. The next step is to determine how much you can afford to pay on a monthly basis, while still having enough to pay basics such as rent, food and transportation. When you have that number, decide whether a personal loan, debt management program or debt settlement gives you the best chance to eliminate the debt. Understand that this process normally takes between three to five years. There are no easy fixes with debt consolidation. When Not To Consider Debt Consolidation. Debt consolidation is an appealing way to simplify your bill paying process, but depending on the method you choose . Also, there will be a significant spike on interest rates for any credit cards you obtain. If you put a home or car up as security, you may get a better interest rate, but any missed payments put you in danger of losing that car or home. For debt consolidation to work, you must calculate how many payments it will take and how much interest is included in those payments for you to eliminate the debt and see if the time and money involved is less than doing it your current way. If you are not really committed to changing the habits that got you into financial trouble, the cost and time for debt consolidation may make the situation worse. The rent was past due. The utility bill and doctor. Sheri had a paycheck coming that Friday, but it wasn. Her four credit cards were maxed out. This was the end of an economic spiral that started three years earlier when she got divorced and then laid off within six months of each other. Sheri went from making $4. Meanwhile, the bills kept coming. And coming. She used credit cards to pay nearly every bill. When one card maxed out, she switched to another or signed up for . The credit counselor asked about her income and expenses and told her she qualified for reduced interest rates on the credit cards. The counselor also worked with companies to reduce the late fees and talked to Sheri about cutting down on trips to restaurants, shopping and family vacations. That started the ball rolling toward recovery. The credit counselor helped Sheri devise a budget that was tight, but doable. As long as Sheri made her monthly payments, she would eliminate the debt in five years. It. She has taught the girls to cook and now all meals are made at home. Are your accounts being turned over to debt collectors? Are you worried about losing your home or your car? Many people face a financial crisis at some point in their lives. Whether the crisis is caused by personal or family illness, the loss of a job, or overspending, it can seem overwhelming. But often, it can be overcome. Your financial situation doesn’t have to go from bad to worse. How do you know which will work best for you? It depends on your level of debt, your level of discipline, and your prospects for the future. Self- Help. Developing a Budget. The first step toward taking control of your financial situation is to do a realistic assessment of how much money you take in and how much money you spend. Start by listing your income from all sources. Next, list the expenses that vary — like groceries, entertainment, and clothing. Writing down all your expenses, even those that seem insignificant, is a helpful way to track your spending patterns, identify necessary expenses, and prioritize the rest. The goal is to make sure you can make ends meet on the basics: housing, food, health care, insurance, and education. You can find information about budgeting and money management techniques online, at your public library, and in bookstores. Computer software programs can be useful tools for developing and maintaining a budget, balancing your checkbook, and creating plans to save money and pay down your debt. Contacting Your Creditors. Contact your creditors immediately if you’re having trouble making ends meet. Tell them why it’s difficult for you, and try to work out a modified payment plan that reduces your payments to a more manageable level. Don’t wait until your accounts have been turned over to a debt collector. At that point, your creditors have given up on you. Dealing with Debt Collectors. Federal law dictates how and when a debt collector may contact you: not before 8 a. Collectors may not harass you, lie, or use unfair practices when they try to collect a debt. And they must honor a written request from you to stop further contact. Managing Your Auto and Home Loans. Your debts can be unsecured or secured. Secured debts usually are tied to an asset, like your car for a car loan, or your house for a mortgage. If you stop making payments, lenders can repossess your car or foreclose on your house. Unsecured debts are not tied to any particular asset, and include most credit card debt, bills for medical care, and signature loans. Most automobile financing agreements allow a creditor to repossess your car any time you’re in default. No notice is required. If your car is repossessed, you may have to pay the balance due on the loan, as well as towing and storage costs, to get it back. If you can't do this, the creditor may sell the car. If you see default approaching, you may be better off selling the car yourself and paying off the debt: You'll avoid the added costs of repossession and a negative entry on your credit report. If you fall behind on your mortgage, contact your lender immediately to avoid foreclosure. Most lenders are willing to work with you if they believe you're acting in good faith and the situation is temporary. Some lenders may reduce or suspend your payments for a short time. When you resume regular payments, though, you may have to pay an additional amount toward the past due total. Other lenders may agree to change the terms of the mortgage by extending the repayment period to reduce the monthly debt. Ask whether additional fees would be assessed for these changes, and calculate how much they total in the long term. If you and your lender can’t work out a plan, contact a housing counseling agency. Some agencies limit their counseling services to homeowners with FHA mortgages, but many offer free help to any homeowner who’s having trouble making mortgage payments. Call the local office of the Department of Housing and Urban Development or the housing authority in your state, city, or county for help in finding a legitimate housing counseling agency near you. Debt Relief Services. If you’re struggling with significant credit card debt, and can’t work out a repayment plan with your creditors on your own, consider contacting a debt relief service like credit counseling or debt settlement. Depending on the type of service, you might get advice on how to deal with your mounting bills or create a plan for repaying your creditors. Before you do business with any debt relief service, check it out with your state Attorney General and local consumer protection agency. They can tell you if any consumer complaints are on file about the firm you're considering doing business with. Ask your state Attorney General if the company is required to be licensed to work in your state and, if so, whether it is. If you’re thinking about getting help to stabilize your financial situation, do some homework first. Find out what services a business provides, how much it costs, and how long it may take to get the results they promised. Don’t rely on verbal promises. Get everything in writing, and read your contracts carefully. Credit Counseling. Reputable credit counseling organizations can advise you on managing your money and debts, help you develop a budget, and offer free educational materials and workshops. Their counselors are certified and trained in consumer credit, money and debt management, and budgeting. Counselors discuss your entire financial situation with you, and help you develop a personalized plan to solve your money problems. An initial counseling session typically lasts an hour, with an offer of follow- up sessions. Most reputable credit counselors are non- profits and offer services through local offices, online, or on the phone. If possible, find an organization that offers in- person counseling. Many universities, military bases, credit unions, housing authorities, and branches of the U. S. Cooperative Extension Service operate non- profit credit counseling programs. Your financial institution, local consumer protection agency, and friends and family also may be good sources of information and referrals. But be aware that “non- profit” status doesn’t guarantee that services are free, affordable, or even legitimate. In fact, some credit counseling organizations charge high fees, which they may hide, or urge their clients to make . A DMP alone is not credit counseling, and DMPs are not for everyone. Don’t sign up for one of these plans unless and until a certified credit counselor has spent time thoroughly reviewing your financial situation, and has offered you customized advice on managing your money. Even if a DMP is appropriate for you, a reputable credit counseling organization still can help you create a budget and teach you money management skills. In a DMP, you deposit money each month with the credit counseling organization. It uses your deposits to pay your unsecured debts, like your credit card bills, student loans, and medical bills, according to a payment schedule the counselor develops with you and your creditors. Your creditors may agree to lower your interest rates or waive certain fees. But it’s a good idea to check with all your creditors to be sure they offer the concessions that a credit counseling organization describes to you. A successful DMP requires you to make regular, timely payments; it could take 4. DMP. Ask the credit counselor to estimate how long it will take for you to complete the plan. You may have to agree not to apply for — or use — any additional credit while you’re participating in the plan. Debt Settlement Programs. Debt settlement programs typically are offered by for- profit companies, and involve them negotiating with your creditors to allow you to pay a “settlement” to resolve your debt — a lump sum that is less than the full amount that you owe. To make that lump sum payment, the program asks that you set aside a specific amount of money every month in savings. Debt settlement companies usually ask that you transfer this amount every month into an escrow- like account to accumulate enough savings to pay off any settlement that is eventually reached. Further, these programs often encourage or instruct their clients to stop making any monthly payments to their creditors. Debt Settlement Has Risks. Although a debt settlement company may be able to settle one or more of your debts, there are risks associated with these programs to consider before enrolling: 1. These programs often require that you deposit money in a special savings account for 3. Many people have trouble making these payments long enough to get all (or even some) of their debts settled, and end up dropping out the programs as a result. Before you sign up for a debt settlement program, review your budget carefully to make sure you are financially capable of setting aside the required monthly amounts for the full length of the program. Your creditors have no obligation to agree to negotiate a settlement of the amount you owe. So there is a possibility that your debt settlement company will not be able to settle some of your debts — even if you set aside the monthly amounts required by the program. Also, debt settlement companies often try to negotiate smaller debts first, leaving interest and fees on large debts to continue to mount. Because debt settlement programs often ask or encourage you to stop sending payments directly to your creditors, they may have a negative impact on your credit report and other serious consequences. For example, your debts may continue to accrue late fees and penalties that can put you further in the hole. You also may get calls from your creditors or debt collectors requesting repayment. You could even be sued for repayment. In some instances, when creditors win a lawsuit, they have the right to garnish your wages or put a lien on your home.
